DATE CLOSED: May 15, 2003

AFFECTED SYSTEMS:  Power Hawk Series 600 or Power Stack II.

RELEASE LEVEL:  PowerMAX OS 5.1SR6

EXPLANATION:  After installing service release 5.1SR6 on Power Hawk Series 600 or Power Stack II system, the console no longer reacts as expected. There are 4 possible issues that might be required to have the system boot without any operator intervention.

Issue 1:      WARNING: Display configuration error.

Requested display device: "Slot-2". Assigned "None".

Reason: Found no VGA device to enable

Use the “tv” command to change configured VGA device

Resolution 1:   tv -w -r auto

Issue 2:        System will no longer auto boot.

Resolution 2:  paboot  5

(This will give a 5 second delay before booting the Operating System, thus restoring the auto boot capability.)

Issue 3:  System no longer defaults to proper boot device, if other than dsk(0,0,0,0).

Resolution 3:  fd -sw dsk(0,1,0,0)

(This will set console to boot disk device 1 of the primary SCSI controller.)

Issue 4: Desire a boot flag other then 0.

Resolution 4:  p -sw boot 80

(This will allow Symbol Tables to be loaded during boot.)
