BULLETIN NUMBER: SWB-033
DATE ISSUED: November 3, 2003
DATE CLOSED: April 5, 2005
AFFECTED SYSTEMS: Power Hawk Series 900
RELEASE LEVEL: Power Hawk System Level Diagnostics Revision 9.7 (PowerIO)
EXPLANATION: If the cart tape test is configured to run concurrently with disk tests within the Power Hawk System Level Diagnostic (PowerIO) Revision 9.7 then the PowerMAX OS 6.0 Operating System may panic with the following panic string:
ncr_isr (ncr0): Illegal SCSI Script Instruction Detected: (nc: 0x0FABD000,dsp: 0x10063310,dstat: 0x00000081, chain: 0x0FB113B4)
RESOLUTION: This problem is currently under investigation by Software Development. Normal use of the DAT Tape Device and Disk Devices connected to the NCR do not show the same symptoms. It is only when the continued cyclic testing of these devices occurs within PowerIO that this panic occurs.. Until a fix becomes available the cart tape test should not be configured to run concurrent with the disk tests.
