BULLETIN NUMBER:  SWB-042

DATE ISSUED:  March 7, 2005

DATE CLOSED:

AFFECTED SYSTEMS:  Power Hawk 940 w/4-port DEC mount on PBX3.

RELEASE LEVEL:  PowerMAX OS 6.2

EXPLANATION: A Power Hawk 940 configured with a PBX3 and a 4-Port DEC
PMC card mounted will display WARNING messages to the console terminal when
all four ports of the 4-Port Dec module are connected to an Ethernet cable/hub/switch.
The messages displayed for the DEC ports are similar to the following:

WARNING: dec3: abnormal interrupt: 0xF962A080 [0x0000A000]

WARNING: dec1: abnormal interrupt: 0xF962A080 [0x0000A000]

Subsequently (and if the MVE network devices are connected to the Ethernet cable/hub/switch),

the MVE devices will report warnings to the console similar to the following:

WARNING: mve0: RX overflow = 0x80000203 0x80040000, CRX = 0x000000AB

The DEC warnings are usually followed by an abort of the identified DEC interface, which

can only be reset through a powercycle.

RESOLUTION: This problem is currently under investigation.  There is no viable
workaround at this time; however, a reduction in the number of Ethernet ports connected to
the Ethernet cable/hub/switch appears to reduce the probability of this problem occurring.
