BULLETIN NUMBER:  SWB-043

DATE ISSUED:  March 7, 2005

DATE CLOSED:  April 4, 2005

AFFECTED SYSTEMS:  Power Hawk 940

RELEASE LEVEL:  PowerMAX OS 6.2

EXPLANATION: Initial power–up of a Power Hawk 940 running PowerMAX OS 6.2
may result in messages similar to the following during boot:

SDRAM ECC SINGLE BIT ERROR @ 0X0000000

ECC data: 0x00000000    0x08000008

Received ECC: 0x00000000   Calculated ECC: 0x0000000A

This problem may also occur intermittently during a system reboot.  It appears to be

more prevalent when a PBX3 is mounted onto the Power Hawk 940.

RESOLUTION: Further investigation has shown that this problem only occurs on an
initial boot into PowerMAX OS from STAR.  If the user performs a reboot while still
in STAR and then boots the PowerMAX OS, the messages will not be seen.  The
messages displayed are not indicative of any problem in the PowerMAX OS (once booted).
There will be no fix to PowerMAX OS.
