DATE ISSUED: March 11, 2005
DATE CLOSED: March 11, 2005
AFFECTED SYSTEMS: Power Hawk Series 900 w/4-Head VQP-M Graphics PMC.
RELEASE LEVEL: PowerMAX OS 6.1, 6.2, 6.3
EXPLANATION: Any Power Hawk Series 900 system that has a 4-Head VQP-M Graphics PMC Card installed will display messages similar to following during STAR Initialization:

You will be unable to complete a System Generation from CDROM as long as the 4-Head VQP-M Graphics PMC Card is installed.
RESOLUTION: Removal of the 4-Head VQP-M Graphics Card is necessary to facilitate updating the console in the NVRAM and performing a System Generation from CDROM. Once this is done, the VQP-M can be re-installed and the system will properly boot PowerMAX OS. During system boot in the Device Probe Area you should see the following:
Initialize I/O level 1 interface: SYS.PCI1.VME0
vqpm1: on SYS.PCI0.PCI2
Once booted, an hwstat(1M) command will show the VQP-M similar to the following: VQPM 1 ??? ( 106, 1 ) pci2 0xBEFFB000 0xBEFFA000VQPM 1 ??? ( 106, 2 ) pci2 0xBEFFB000 0xBEFFA000VQPM 1 ??? ( 106, 3 ) pci2 0xBEFFB000 0xBEFFA000VQPM 1 ??? ( 106, 4 ) pci2 0xBEFFB000 0xBEFFA000 At this point the PowerMAX OS and VQP-M are functional and ready for proper configuration of the Graphics Software Package.
