BULLETIN NUMBER:  SWB-045

DATE ISSUED:  November 9, 2005

DATE CLOSED:  November 9, 2005

AFFECTED SYSTEMS:  PowerHawk Series 600/700, NightHawk 6800, PowerMAXION, TurboHawk

RELEASE LEVEL:  PowerMAX OS 5.1-001 through -009

EXPLANATION:  Due to a problem with the package utilities, attempting to install 5.1 and all service
releases causes a segmentation fault due to the length of several patch names being greater than 14
characters.  The problem was fixed in Service Release 5 (base-005).  However, when installing all
patches at once, the user would encounter this issue because the long patch names occur before
base-005 is installed.

RESOLUTION:  During initial sysgen, do not install Service Releases.  Boot the system after initial

sysgen, then run pkgadd and install base-001 through base-009 first.  When that’s finished, run

pkgadd again and install all the other patches.
