Patents & Intellectual Property
Concurrent's business is built upon a strong intellectual property foundation. The
Everstream patent portfolio dates from December 1996 and was added to Concurrent's
patent portfolio with the acquisition of Everstream by Concurrent in 2005. Everstream
has received from the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued patents including
Patent Number 5,931,901, issued August 3, 1999; Patent Number 6,038,591, issued
March 14, 2000; and Patent Number 6,161,142, issued December 12, 2000. The patents
contain over 100 separate provisions covering targeted advertising through various
interactive means. In addition, Concurrent has numerous additional patent applications
building on this foundation both in the U.S. and internationally.
Whether for delivery over digital cable networks, set top boxes, satellite systems,
wireless, Internet or other two-way modalities, the issued patents cover both systems
and methods for, among other things, the provision of individualized advertising
messages to viewers and other users. In addition to providing for interactivity,
Concurrent's Everstream technology enables operators and advertisers to specifically
target an ad to a viewer, listener or user most likely to be interested in the product
or service advertised.
These exclusive rights enable Concurrent to build core product offerings upon a
solid and growing foundation. Whether through internal development or by acquisition,
Concurrent continues to build its intellectual property portfolio to enhance its
market opportunity.
